We are delighted to share Tamara’s Valentine’s Day proposal story and how choosing our retro-inspired lace dress helped her achieve the romantic, old Hollywood style she wanted in a wedding dress.

How did he ‘pop’ the question?

On Valentine’s Day 2018. We were having dinner at our favorite restaurant and he pointed to another couple exchanging gifts. When I turned back around to talk to him, he had placed the ring box in front of me!

Where did you two love birds meet?

We work at the same college. I knew the moment I met him he was the one for me. We interacted a few times on different occasions and my heart fluttered each time.

Looking back, what is the most memorable moment on your wedding day?

Wow! There were so many. However, there were two that come to mind. First, was when I was about to walk down the aisle. Seeing him at the altar waiting for me, I became overcome with so much emotion; I began to cry. I kept thinking to myself, “That’s my husband down there waiting for me!” As soon as we laid eyes on each other, we just cried.

Second, when my dad and I reached the altar, he looked at my husband and said, “Well, I guess I have to go now.” My husband said, “Yes, sir. I will take care of her.” I just about lost it!!!

Why did you say “yes” to this Kiyonna dress?  

As I went dress shopping, I knew right away that I wanted a romantic, old Hollywood style of dress. Something tea length, with tulle or lace.

What is one non-traditional thing you did?

There were actually a few non-traditional things we did. We didn’t have a ring bearer. So in order to stick with the Romantic theme, I used a cute little birdcage and created a bird’s nest inside. Our rings were placed in the cage and sat on a high-top table at the altar.

We also didn’t have first dances with our parents, nor did we have the bouquet and garter toss. We didn’t want any of our guests to feel uncomfortable or pressured to participate.
