Last month, we celebrated 22 years in business! To commemorate this special occasion, I thought it would be fun to ask our CEO and Passionate Founder Kim Khanbeigi 22 personal and work-related questions! Oftentimes, we forget that the businesses we love wouldn’t have begun without the dream and motivation of an individual.
It’s all about the team…
The path to 22 years certainly hasn’t been without its challenges, but Kim has never been one to shy away from hard, challenging work. Despite growing her business and hiring a group of talented people to oversee different departments and projects, she still continues to work side by side with everyone, creating a team environment that has proven to work. Everyone brings individual strengths and talents that come together seamlessly when projects need to be completed and Kim is the first to acknowledge this. She offers guidance when needed, but she ultimately trusts the team to get things done. One of us…
In the past year and five months that I’ve been employed at Kiyonna, I’ve seen Kim roll up her sleeves more times than I can count with my two hands. Sometimes, her easy-going spirit makes it easy to forget she’s our boss. On any given day, you’ll find her in our lounge, cooking breakfast for one of our monthly on-hands meetings. It’s those moments that our sense of unity and teamwork is strengthened. Almost every obstacle that comes through our doors must be faced head-on as a team because, at the end of the day, we depend on each other to succeed.
CEO and EGO…a fine balance
At Kiyonna, ego has to be left out the door. Even though she’s our CEO, this is something Kim understands and lives by. Ultimately, this mentality has gotten her to where she is today. While the company wouldn’t exist without her original dream and drive, it’s the team she’s built over the years that keeps Kiyonna successful in its endeavors.
