Lots of changes happen in 23 years
As we celebrate our 23rd year in business, we’re reflecting on some of the Kiyonna styles that have evolved over the years. Part of running a successful company comes from growth in all departments, especially design. After all, our priority is making sure you always love the plus size dresses and separates we create. Our design team is constantly improving our styles, whether inspired by customer feedback or the ever-changing fashion trends. Some styles have experienced small changes, while others have gone through a complete overhaul. Some of our current styles have been inspired by other current styles. When you shop with us, you can feel confident knowing our clothes are made with love and care. Nothing is ever done with haste, and no decision is ever made alone. As we move toward the future, you’ll continue seeing some of our best-sellers change, and we hope you’ll continue loving the styles we make.
A bellini, revisited
Every wardrobe needs a great versatile sweater. Our bellinis have gone through quite a few changes, from buttons to drapey fabric details to sleeve lengths. So many of our customers are busy working women, so having a comfortable jersey cardigan is essential. We’ve experimented quite a bit with our bellinis, changing the colors and prints over the years. Our Jetsetter Bellini and Sweet Ruffle Bellini are both blasts from the past we’ve loved. Today, we’ve honed in on providing comfortable and practical separates like our popular Lori Brushed Bellini and Sunset Stroll Cardigan (previously the Sunset Stroll Bellini). Designed with soft jersey fabrics and always available in the most current colors and prints, these cardigans are perfect for every season.
A top with twists and turns
One of our best-selling tops started with a twist detail that became an instant hit with customers. Our Caycee Twist Top, while unique, isn’t the first twist top to turn heads with Kiyonna fans. Before our Caycee Twist Top came along, we had our more flowy Centered Gathered Tee and our Angelina Top that featured a sparkly centered brooch. Our Caycee Twist Top is the best of both worlds because it can be dressed up or down with ease. It’s slightly more fitted in the arms and bust, but the bottom of this top flares out for a comfortable and flattering fit. Whether you wear this plus size top to work or flaunt it on the weekend, you’ll get compliments wherever you go.
The evolution of a dress
Many times, our inspiration comes from a style that’s already amazing. For example, our Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress stemmed from previous styles like our Sophia Lace Dress. This plus size style continues to be a go-to for anyone looking for a classic lace cocktail dress. With its popularity, it’s no surprise that this dress has been a launching point for a few of our other loved styles. Both our Linden Lace Top and Mademoiselle Lace Cocktail Dress were inspired by our Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress. And, when we needed a formal gown, our Screen Siren Lace Evening Gown was designed and continues to be a favorite with our customers for special occasions.
Going with the flow, year to year
This year, we launched our Seaside Serenade Top which has quickly become a sought-after style for every occasion. However, before this flowy top came along, the Ellis Top was designed with a soft jersey for a more casual appearance. Upgraded with a new bubble crepe fabric, our Seaside Serenade Top has a dressier feel that makes it a great top for the office or date night. Since the reception for this plus size top was so positive, it also inspired our Florence Flutter Sleeve Dress.
