KIYONNA Clothing Launches Fundraiser for Sandy Hook Promise

Anaheim, CA – November 20, 2015 – Kiyonna Clothing, Inc. of Anaheim, California is fundraising for Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit organization which aims to prevent gun violence and loss of life.

Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family and community members whose loved ones were lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, their intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning tragedy into a moment of transformation through community-based mental health and wellness programs and sensible gun safety practices.

Beginning November 14, Kiyonna Clothing is donating proceeds from their Sunset Stroll Bellini Cardigan in Promise Green to Sandy Hook Promise. The “Promise Green Bellini” is a limited-edition item curated exclusively for the Sandy Hook Promise fundraiser. It is available in sizes 0x (10-12) to 5X (30-32).

Kiyonna Clothing’s involvement with Sandy Hook Promise began the fateful morning of December 14, 2012, when 20 children and six educators were killed by a single shooter.

“This national tragedy shook the core of so much that parents take for granted,” says Kiyonna’s President and Passionate Founder Kim Khanbeigi, a mother of two young children. “There is no question in my mind that we need to do everything in our power to keep our children safe. Watching the news on that heartbreaking day, I realized that this could have happened to my own daughter’s first-grade class. I felt helpless, but through Sandy Hook Promise, my husband and I have hope that we can all make a difference.”

Sandy Hook Promise Founder and Managing Director Nicole Hockley’s 6-year-old son Dylan was killed in this horrific tragedy. Nicole, along with other family members, has dedicated her life to ensure no other family experiences the loss of a child to gun violence. She and Sandy Hook Promise believe that we must focus on the human side of gun violence, not just on gun safety alone.

“It’s time for us to stop talking about just the gun. We need to make sure that people who suffer from mental health and wellness issues get the help they need before it ever gets to the moment they choose to hurt themselves or others,” says Sandy Hook Promise Founder and Managing Director Nicole Hockley. “Our mental health and wellness programs train adults and students how to identify, intervene and get help for at-risk individuals.”

Those who wish to purchase the Sunset Stroll Bellini Cardigan in Promise Green may visit dev2.kiyonna.com and www.sandyhookpromise.org. All proceeds from the sales of the Promise Green Bellini will be used to offset the cost of delivering Sandy Hook Promise’s mental health and wellness training programs across the U.S.

“Sandy Hook Promise is honored to be working with Kiyonna,” says Hockley. “They have been an incredible partner and supporter from the very start of this horrific tragedy. Our hope is that thousands of Americans wrap themselves up in Promise Green to remember that fateful day and help us ensure that it never happens again.”
