KIYONNA Clothing Helps Local Breast Cancer Patients in October

Giving is always in style at Kiyonna.

Anaheim, CA – September 28, 2015 – It’s October again, and although we’re still in the fight against breast cancer, immediate help is on the way. This year, KIYONNA joins the fight by supporting the Orange County-based non-profit, Breast Cancer Angels, with direct donations to cancer patients.

50% of Retail Sales to Breast Cancer Angels in October
Kiyonna will donate 50% of retail sales on the Bohemian Crochet Bellini in Blushing Pink. Plus, on Saturday, October 10th, we are hosting an open house fundraiser at The Showroom (our in-house boutique), at our headquarters in Anaheim. Besides the fabulous fashion and delicious sips and snacks being offered, 50% of the day’s retail sales on Kiyonna apparel will be donated to Breast Cancer Angels. Save the date for the Pink Positive for Breast Cancer Awareness event!

Why We Support Breast Cancer Angels
Our President and Passionate Founder of KIYONNA, Kim Khanbeigi, chose to support the Breast Cancer Angels because of their direct interaction and support of afflicted patients. Breast Cancer Angels provides groceries, gas, day-to-day items, pro-bono legal services and more, to aide women undergoing treatment and provide some relief to their suffering families.

“I learned about Breast Cancer Angels through a moms’ club. We were reaching out to a woman who had lost her husband a few days after having a double mastectomy. She had two small children, and it really hit home,” says Khanbeigi.

Breast Cancer Angels was initially founded by Faye Dietiker, a survivor of stage IV breast cancer. During her chemotherapy treatments, Dietiker heard countless stories of the financial toll on patients and their families. A survivor, Dietiker knew she needed to help. She started with support from family and friends and put together nearly $2,000 in Christmas presents for the women she met during treatment. From there, her tenacious spirit gathered the interest of more than 200 individual sponsorships and has since raised several million dollars.

Today, corporate sponsorships are vital. Breast Cancer Angels needs to raise a minimum of $600,000 per year, in order to continue servicing their clientele. Due to the generosity of sponsor Trend Offset Printing (they cover the charity’s overhead costs), 100% of donations are given to patients. Breast Cancer Angels is run by Director of Operations Debbie Stroman who is also supported by the Board of Directors: Faye Dietiker, Edie Mermelstein, Ann Steinmetz, Holly Leinau and Lori Franklin.

“The tragedy is that some women don’t get treatment because they can’t afford to miss out on work income. We need continuously help these women, mothers, wives and sisters. Some of them can never go back to work again,” says Stroman.
